Holiday Pass Campaign 2025

A summer day full of fun, crafts, and medieval flair

It’s hard to believe that the first half of 2025 is already over! To kick off the summer holidays, we were once again part of the Diekholzen municipality’s holiday pass program and invited children to a fun-filled day of activities at our club grounds.

The association crew met in the morning to set up the large tarpaulin and prepare the various stations. At 2 p.m., the time had come: 16 children eagerly stormed the grounds and were able to take part in a wide variety of activities.

Whether filing soapstone, knotting bracelets with knotting stars or wire (“Sawürkern”), trying out medieval board games or grinding our popular wild garlic salt in a mortar – everywhere there was crafting, laughing and trying things out. In between, everyone enjoyed cool drinks and freshly picked cherries 🍒 from Barienrode.

A special highlight was the presentation by Hagen von Drakenforst, who gave the children exciting insights into the world of fire-making 🔥. With shining eyes, they listened to his stories and marveled at how much knowledge and skill goes into a simple spark.

Afterwards, we went back out to the meadow: horseshoes were thrown, balls and arrows were hurled at our castle, and those who needed a break found a cozy rest on the wooden horse or the swing.

The hours flew by, and before we knew it, it was 5 p.m. – time for the parents to pick up their children. Some had to do a lot of persuading, because many would have loved to stay longer. 😄

The holiday pass event was a complete success for all of us: happy children, enthusiastic parents, and a club that was once again able to show how much joy doing things together can bring.

We are already looking forward to next year—and to many more adventures, big and small, on our club grounds! 🏰
